Dianka, Catalan author known for her dedication to melodic songs from the 60s and 70s, with references such as Marisol or Peggy Lee (she co-wrote ‘Tocotó’ for Amaia and has a small hit with Paco Pecado), presents a new great song. It is a collaboration with La Bien Querida that criticizes machismo in the music industry and in society in general.
Behind such sweet voices, hides a rebellious theme against those men who make you feel small. Little one? «I’m not! “I’m not!” answers the chorus. “I’m a bully.”
“Go away, I don’t want your poison anymore” is another of the most explanatory phrases of this ‘Chiquitita, Matona!’, our Song of the Day today. The theme, finished off by the modern production of Pau Aymí (Jeanette, Anier…), arose during a retreat to Los Alpes, after Dianka felt that she did not fit in in Madrid.
The artist herself explains the duality of the title: “The opposite poles generate a very important and unassailable vital symbiosis. In me there is always a fight to see who is the protagonist – little girl or bully -. It is very interesting to pluralize my personality: to be tiny like a speck of dust or as big and imposing as a fir tree. I can be both at the same time.”
Regarding the excitement that collaborating with La Bien Querida has made her, she said: “It is an honor to be able to see Ana between the verses of this song, I am very excited. When I presented it to her, she saw the argument in a similar way to mine, although she personified her vision in a male figure. This generates a very striking contrast, not only harmonious, but because it seems that we are both talking about different things, but in short we are talking about the same thing. Get rid of what makes us bad and feel like heroines.”
The video clip, with its braids and its books, follows the aesthetics of the album ‘Cabriola’, which will be presented on December 10 in Madrid. It will be in the Sala Uni and tickets are available through Ochoymedio.
