Surprise: Rosalía, on the new Fontaines DC album

Just when we were wondering what’s next for Rosalía, now that her tour is over; will present two songs, we don’t know which ones, on SNL; and it is also being nominated for awards like the Latin Grammys… surprise! The first thing we know for sure is that she will be the guest artist on the new Fontaines DC album. It is the first time that an outsider sings on an Irish album, although Grian Chatten has collaborated with people like Kae Tempest or Hinds.

‘Dopamine Chamber’, the album by the 100% sui generis poetic post-punk band, comes out on October 16, and has been presented by the single ‘Marianne’, which has achieved enormous success in the United Kingdom for a song of these characteristics: it has been top 19 and continues in the top 30 four weeks later.

Rosalía will appear on track 8, ‘WHERE IS GONE’, recalling two collaborations, perhaps: the one she did with an alternative British artist such as James Blake; and the most mischievous one he did in Spain for Carolina Durante. We bet it will sound closer to the former, even though it might sound like the latter.

A previous press release described Fontaines DC’s album, among other things, as a compendium of “power ballads and anthemic melodies that shine through the darkness.” This is how the sequence looks:

1. Six Shot Morning
2. Marianne
3. Mimesis
4. Happy For You
5.Demolition
6. Tongue
7. One Man
8. Where Is Gone? (with ROSALÍA)
9. You Miss Me
10.Japan
11.Intimate
