Jan St. Wernerwho we mainly know for being fifty percent of Mouse On Marsannounces a new album. But the news is that it will have a list of authentic luxury collaborations.
“Squares Will Fall” will see the light November 13 via Thrill Jockey. This is the new solo work – that is to say – by Jan St. Werner, member of the electronic duo Mouse On Mars, from Microstoria (along with Markus Popp from Oval) or alone under his own name or using aliases such as Lithops,
But this new work will not be an ordinary album, but rather it is the evolution of a piece that, under the name “Squares Will Fall”, Werner created in 2012 to celebrate a friend’s thirtieth birthday. The piece was improvised and bore fruit in various subsequent live projects (Ural Industrial Biennial) or an improvisation in Justin Vernon’s studio (Bon Iver) in Wisconsin. All of this has finally led to what will be an album.
“Squares Will Fall” Not only will it be Werner’s new album, but we will find in it a long list of collaborations such as those of the aforementioned Justin Vernon – who sings in the piece that you can already hear below these lines -, Sufjan Stevens, Zach Condon (Beirut), Ben Lanz (The National), John Colpitts (Kid Millions, Oneida), Jeremy Ylvisaker (The Cloak Ox, Andrew Bird)the Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafssonthe trumpeter Kyle Resnick or his colleagues in the Mouse On Mars live band such as Dodo Nkishi.
