The thirty-third edition of the Southern Pyrenees has just distinguished the Panamanian musician Ruben Blades with his Southern Pyrenees Award for Cultural Diversity.
The XXXIII edition of the International Festival of Cultures recognizes the Panamanian musician, composer, actor and activist for a “career that has turned popular song into a tool of social awareness, memory and dialogue between cultures.”
It should be noted that Ruben Blades will act July 19 on the floating stage of Lanuza next to the Roberto Delgado Big Banda group of twenty Panamanian musicians who have accompanied him since 2010.
And let’s also remember that, in the rest of the lineup, we will find artists like Rufus Wainwright, Suede, José González, Bomba Estéreo, Nacho Vegas, Judeline, Samuraï, Elem, Los Planetas, Lia Kali, Chambao, Valeria Castro, Christina Rosenvinge, Carlos Ares, La Fúmiga, ETS, Ester Vallejo, La MODA, Hens, Leeches del Guadiana, Dani Fernandez and a very long etcetera, which will act between the July 9 and 26.
Beyond its lineup, Pirineos Sur maintains its commitment to a more sustainable, accessible and connected festival model with the territory. On concert days, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., motor vehicle access to Lanuza will not be allowed and the road will become a greenway to prioritize travel on foot, by bicycle or by shuttle. In addition, this year connections with Sabiñánigo and Biescas are reinforced by online reservation, free parking for bicycles is maintained and the venue modernizes its services with a specific expansion of the bathrooms for women. Added to these measures is the BALORE Space, a meeting and awareness point around sustainability, equality and the SDGs, as well as collaboration with the Huesca Food Bank, which reinforces the social involvement of the festival with the territory.
