‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ is that curious mega-massive phenomenon, both musical and cinematic: both the soundtrack and the film continue to sweep, not only in the United States – where it simultaneously occupies number 1 on the singles charts with ‘Golden’ and the album charts – but also in Spain, where the soundtrack appears at number 9 and ‘Golden’ at number 10.
At the same time, the artists behind the voices of Rumi, Mira and Zoey – who form the animated band HUNTR/X – are becoming known. Last weekend, EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami debuted on American television performing ‘Golden’ briefly during one of the skits starring Bad Bunny on Saturday Night Live. They then performed the entire song for the first time on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show. They are the three main voices of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, although they do not voice the characters: the spoken voices correspond to Arden Cho (Rumi), May Hong (Mira) and Ji-young Yoo (Zoey). But who are the voices that sing the songs?
EJAE
Born in Seoul in 1991, EJAE trained for ten years at SM Entertainment, the K-pop company responsible for groups like Girls’ Generation or EXO. However, he did not debut and, after leaving the company in 2011, he moved to New York. In 2019 she achieved her first big success as a songwriter thanks to ‘Psycho’ by Red Velvet. In 2025 he signed with Prescription Records…yes, the label founded by Dr. Luke.
Before ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’, her work as a composer for k-pop groups had already given her several hits with aespa (‘Drama’), TWICE (‘Pieces of Love’) or LE SSERAFIM (‘So Cynical’). However, ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ represents its definitive global leap. EJAE is the main songwriter of ‘Golden’, a massive global hit, before and after Taylor Swift.
curious fact: EJAE is the granddaughter of the famous Korean actor Shin Young-kyun, known for his role in ‘The Three Day Reign’ (1973).
Audrey Nuna
With an alternative and modern aesthetic, in the line of artists like Billie Eilish or Ashnikko, Audrey Nuna was born in New Jersey in 1999. She studied at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in Brooklyn and became known with songs like ‘Damn Right’ or ‘Comic Sans’ with Jack Harlow. Her experimental profile led her to collaborate with artists such as Teezo Touchdown or Channel Tres before triumphing with ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’.
Nuna had already published his mixtape ‘A Liquid Breakfast’ in 2021, which included the aforementioned songs and others in the trap and alternative R&B style in the style of SZA, such as ‘Baby Blues’. On the soundtrack of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ she participates as a vocalist and co-writer of songs like ‘Golden’ and ‘How It’s Done’.
Rei Ami
As Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami had already released an album before the success of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’: the album ‘FOIL’ (2021) was packed with trap beats, hard bass, R&B harmonies and bedroom-pop nods, with collaborations from Lolo Zouaï and Aminé.
Born in Seoul in 1995 and raised in Maryland (United States), Rei Ami sings and raps. In 2020 he participated in the TikTok hit ‘Freak’, by Sub Urban, which has accumulated more than 240 million views on Spotify. In 2021 she opened for Tinashe (pioneer!), and her subsequent collaborations with Pussy Riot (‘Plaything’) or Dillon Francis (‘Rainy’) have led her, little by little, to achieve the great success of her career, thanks to her participation in the soundtrack of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’.
