Carly Rae Jepsen dedicates ‘Motivation’ to all forms of family

Carly Rae Jepsen is proving, single after single, that her double album will be one of the essential releases for pop lovers in 2026. After the epic ‘On Wires’, the retro ‘After All’ and the classic ‘Don’t Leave Me On The Dancefloor’, the Canadian artist continues to demonstrate her great versatility with ‘Motivation’.

Described as an “ode to all the different forms a family can take”, and like the single that precedes it, ‘Motivation’ is also designed to both dance and surrender to the emotions. This time, through house and EDM. It’s the Song of the Day.

“Keep me in a little box and I’ll travel around the world with you / Give me the motivation,” sings a chorus in the first seconds of the song, which at the same time make it clear that this is the most tender song of all the previews of ‘Day and Night’. Carly Rae Jepsen dedicates ‘Motivation’ to her family, in which, like everyone else, there is room for both love and “madness.”

The succession of phrases in which Jepsen assures that “we love the hell out of this family” and that she is “in love with my family”, despite their disagreements, is a perfect accompaniment to the liberating instrumental section of the song. Songs like these are able to instantly transport you back to when “things were green.”
