Tyler, The Creator returns to the experimental in the paranoid ‘NOID’

There’s just one week left until Tyler, The Creator releases his sixth studio album, ‘CHROMAKOPIA’. This was announced a few days ago unexpectedly and today we have already received the first full preview of it. ‘NOID’ clarifies what direction the artist will go in with this release, as it sounds like the conclusion to two of his previous works: ‘IGOR’ and ‘Cherry Bomb’.

The song is not found on platforms, but has been uploaded to YouTube directly along with the video clip, directed by Tyler himself. In it, the masked character of the album appears in different situations that derive mainly from the paranoia of fame. Ayo Edebiri, known for her role in ‘The Bear’, plays the crazy fan very convincingly, for example.

“I feel it in my aura / Living between cameras and recorders,” Tyler sings over a beat that is as surprising as it is experimental. This includes a sample of the guitars from Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’, which would be reminiscent of the ‘Cherry Bomb’ era, and the synths and harmonies characteristic of the rapper’s softer side, fully distilled in ‘IGOR’. ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST’, on the other hand, was not such a defining work.
