The TVE Informative Council has issued a statement asking the RTVE administration to ‘the TV family’ “the credibility” of the chain’s information services.
The message comes after Inés Hernand’s new program connected this Thursday with his collaborator Marta Riesco in Rome, which was covering the choice of the new Pope, Leo XIV (Robert Francis Prevost). The key, and what has angry at the news team, has been the logo that appeared in the microphone.
“The information professionals of this house have long days in Rome informing with seriousness and rigor about the conclave by the choice of the new Pope,” can be read in the letter. After mentioning that Riesco was “using the TVE microphone,” the statement indicates that “neither the tone nor the shape of this program is what is expected of a public television in an event of this importance”: “Our professionals and our spectators deserve respect,” they say.
The statement, entitled “In defense of the credibility of RTVE”, it ends up thanking its workers for the informative work during these days. Riesco intervention in ‘The TV family’ consisted of a unstressed interview with a group of nuns, asking them about their expectations in relation to the new Pope.
