Tito Jackson, member of the Jackson 5, dies

Tito Jackson, a member of the Jackson 5, has died aged 70. Tito was the third of the family’s 10 children. The other four siblings in the Jackson 5 were Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael Jackson, who died 15 years ago.

Tito is naturally credited as a backing vocalist on The Jackson 5’s most popular singles, such as ‘I Want You Back’, ‘ABC’ or ‘I’ll Be There’. Songs that have decisively marked the career of artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake or Rihanna.

“We are heartbroken, saddened and in shock. Our father was an amazing man who cared about everyone and their well-being,” Tito’s three children said in the statement, without revealing the cause of death. According to Entertainment Tonight, he suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.

Tito Jackson, who ended up specializing as a blues guitarist, participated in the 1984 Victory Tour, the tour that reunited the brothers, including a Michael who had already made a splash with ‘Thriller’.

In 2001, Tito participated with his brothers in Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. In 2016, he released a solo album called ‘Tito Time’. In 2021, he released a second album called ‘Under Your Spell’ in which he had luxury collaborators such as Stevie Wonder and George Benson.
