We must never forget our roots. And that is what the new festival intends The peopleto be held in the Asturian town of Castropol Throughout the September 13 and 14. As its motto says: “This summer we return to the town.”
The town is a free event – or rather, several events in one, since there are activities for very diverse audiences – with itinerant character that is born “with the aim of paying tribute to the peoples that make up our identity and give them the prominence they deserve. This initiative seeks not only to strengthen the pride of rural belonging, but also generate a positive impact on the image and local economy of each place where it is celebrated.”
Thus, this first edition will be held on September 13 and 14 in Castropol, a beautiful population in the Asturian west, in full reserve of the EO biosphere. In the poster of this first edition of El Pueblo we will meet the Barcelona Sidonie as poster heads, accompanied by names as diverse as those of The Rapants, Marlena, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, brave children, liquid love either The Goodmengoing through THE GAITA BAND THE PEEDONelectronic Héctor Llamazares, Yahaira, Kresy and Alejandro Ávilauntil reaching the very King Africa. That is, there will be indie, pop-rock, traditional music, electronics and even summer songs. Of everything and for diverse audiences.
To all this, traditional and local activities (Castropol floral carpets, guided routes, horseback riding, public yoga, children’s workshops, exhibition of historical photos, etc.), in addition to a wide market of Asturian products with the best gastronomy and crafts.
The people, as you could have guess at this point, is an event that is born with a social vocation, with the intention of returning cultural and musical life to the roots of Asturian culture. In future editions, the town will tour different Asturian locations with the same intention to enrich the fabric of each of the places where they are held.
The people have been promoted by the Ministry of Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality and Tourism of the Principality of Asturias, with the support of Caja Rural de Asturias – through its Education and Promotion Fund – and Vibra Mahou, supporting experiences related to music and beer culture. In addition, it has the sponsorship of food from Paraíso, through the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Agricultural Policy.
