Both the director of Mad Cool, Javier Arnáiz, and the Festival promoter will go to trial for the high noise levels of the 2023 edition, according to the newspaper. Thus, the Prosecutor’s Office asks for two years in jail for Arnáiz for a crime against the environment, in addition to a fine of 10,800 euros and the prohibition of working in the concert industry for two years.
After the fines of 800,000 euros to the promoters of the concerts in the Bernabéu and the complaints of the neighbors for the volume of the Tomavistas festival, it is the turn of Mad cool. The indicated edition is that of 2023, which had the performances of Robbie Williams, Liam Gallagher or Lizzo.
The complaints of the residents of Getafe and Villaverde, who claimed that it was impossible to reconcile the dream, were confirmed by the sound measurements, which certified that the legal noise threshold had been overcome. Therefore, the Madrid City Council punished the event with a fine of 22,001 euros. At that time, the Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint that will now become a trial against the festival company and its director for causing a “risk of serious damage to the health of people” because of the noise.
The fine that is requested for the company ‘Mad Cool Festival SL’ amounts to 72,000 euros. To that, compensation for four neighbors of Getafe and Villaverde affected by the noise is added. Each would receive a sum of 6,000 euros. On the other hand, the Association ‘Stop MAD Cool Villaverde’ Platform, which is responsible for denouncing this type of noise, uploads the prosecution’s request from two to three years in jail for Javier Arnáiz. UMusic has contacted Mad Cool to obtain his version, for the moment without a response.
