He LEMBarcelona’s International Experimental Music Meeting, has completed its lineup for its twenty-ninth edition, to be held between October 4th and 26th.

LEM has always been characterised by experimentation in a variety of musical genres, from electronic to punk, noise, free jazz and even concrete music. And this year is not going to be an exception, but rather it is even pushing its boundaries a step further stylistically speaking.

In total it will be almost thirty concerts that will be developed in a Ten spaces of the city between the Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 26thThe venues will range from bars to community centres, museums, concert halls and churches in five neighbourhoods of Barcelona. In them we will be able to see a combination of established and experienced artists with emerging ones, from a total of twelve countries.

Among the veterans, we will be able to see no less than Superelvisone of the leaders of the Barcelona experimental scene, who will present what will be their first album in twenty-five years, Pelayo Arrizabalaga and Eli Grasbut also to Tiger Menja Zebra (Granollers), Tano! There will also be a round table led by the sociologist Ádám Havas on the improvised music scene in Europe, with the performance of twelve musicians from here and from other places on the continent. In addition, the Col·lectiu Free’t will also present its album in Barcelona “Undergrowth” in a free concert that will follow the precepts of sound painting, a form of directed improvisation.

As every year, the LEM will also present the projects of the artistic research laboratories of Gràcia Territori Sonor, the entity that organises the LEM. In this sense, the 2024 Àgape will celebrate the centenary of the surrealist movement. Raquel Santanera, Hara Kraan, Andrea Martínez and Pere Pina will prepare a unique gastro-poetic-musical experience. As for Teranyines, it is the project that brings together female artists from different disciplines: the actresses Blanca García Lladó and Blanca Picó and the musicians Mireia Tejero and Edurne Arizu, who will premiere a piece at the LEM. Finally, the Valencian Polifeme will also show, through a workshop and a performance, the results of her research on the Objective Composition Method, developed by Víctor Nubla (1956-2020), founder of the LEM. Another artist, Javi Álvarez, will create a session based on the cassette archive left by Víctor Nubla.
