Some The Cure fans have woken up to a mysterious postcard in their mailboxes today, NME has confirmed. It could be the first step towards the official announcement of The Cure’s new album, ‘Songs Of A Lost World’.
The postcards feature this title and a date that could reveal the release date of the album, next November 1st. There is no official confirmation from the group, so it cannot be taken as a definitive date.
The black, embossed postcards read ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ in scattered letters. At the bottom is a date in Roman numerals: I-XI-MMXXIV (1/11/24). If this is true, The Cure’s first studio album in 16 years will be available in 7 weeks. The postcard’s aesthetic also matches the band’s new profile picture on social media, as well as the revamped website.
For now, The Cure are certain to release ‘Novembre: Live in France 2022’ on October 1st, which includes two new songs from the band recorded live: ‘And Nothing Is Forever’ and ‘I Can Never Say Goodbye’. The Cure have been playing these two songs live since October 2022.
