The Cars will release the latest songs Ric Ocasek worked on

It is confirmed that the still living members of The Cars are working to complete and release the latest songs they worked on with Ric Ocasekdied in 2019.

Bill Janovitzleader of Buffalo Tomjust published “The Cars. Let The Stories Be Told”a biography of the vitamin pop band The Cars. And the main news is that, on their pages, the still living members of The Cars confirm that they are working to publish the latest compositions that they were working on with their leader Ric Ocasek before he died in 2019.

The group that gave us a good handful of hits on albums like “The Cars” (78), “Candy-O” (79) and “Heartbeat City” (84) could offer us new material in the near future. Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes and David Robinson have been completing songs they started working on when Ocasek was still alive. In fact, some of them had already begun to take shape when Benjamin Orr was alive – and he died in 2000! – so we imagine that they will maintain the original spirit and sound of the group. Apparently, five songs would be completely finished at this point.

On the other hand, last Sunday, October 26, a tribute concert to The Cars was held in Los Angeles in which, at least, all the songs from the new wave and power pop band’s debut album were performed. Artists such as Billy Idol, Corey Taylor from Slipknot or Josh Freesenow in Nine Inch Nails.
