The 100 best albums of the 2020s, according to Pitchfork

Yesterday we commented on the Pitchfork list that broke down the best songs of the 2020s, although it is not finished. Today, as the American media announced, we have the list of the best albums. Phoebe Bridgers, Jessie Ware, The Smile, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, SZA and Beyoncé, among them.

Rosalía did not receive any mention in the track listing, with several of our readers highlighting the fact. However, in the album classification he has managed to position himself at number 8 with ‘MOTOMAMI’, of course. She closely follows Charli XCX with ‘BRAT’, at number 7. Unlike yesterday’s list, there is no surprising mention in the Top 5.

The closest thing to this would be Playboi Carti and his ‘Whole Lotta Red’, named the second best album of the decade for its influence on the hip hop scene. Beyoncé’s ‘RENAISSANCE’ took fifth place, SZA’s R&B ‘SOS’ took fourth place and Cindy Lee’s return to the lo-fi past, with ‘Diamond Jubilee’, took the bronze medal. ‘Fetch The Bolt Cutters’ by Fiona Apple takes the title of best album so far this decade.

In the first half of the list have entered albums such as ‘Only God Was Above Us’ by Vampire Weeknd (#98), ‘Two Star & The Dream Police’ by Mk.gee (#91), ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ from The Smile (#75) or ‘Fossora’ by Björk (#57). Taylor Swift has entered at number 67 with ‘foklore’.

Three of the best-selling albums of the decade are placed consecutively: ‘Future Nostalgia’ by Dua Lipa (#53), ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ by Bad Bunny (#52) and ‘Dawn FM’ by The Weeknd (# 51). On the other hand, Lana del Rey, who yesterday occupied number 1 on the list, today is relegated to number 16 with ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’.
