Teo Planell continues to build an enviable discography in the form of singles, making us eagerly await his first full-length. ‘Canción En Murcia’ is his latest release, an ode to young love that also serves as a tribute to the city of Murcia. It is the Song of the Day.
An electronic beep opens the song, which brings out Planell’s singer-songwriter side. With a guitar accompanying the entire song, the 20-year-old narrates experiences during his stay in Murcia with astonishing sensitivity, but without leaving aside the typical acts of youth. Once again, Roy Borland is in charge of the production.
“I ended up vomiting in front of the cathedral in the early morning” had never sounded so nice. The same with sneaking into a doorway with a date, which had never sounded so romantic: “Excuse me, Mr. Police, I’m young and looking for love.” The melody of the song is one of those that seems to have always been there and its very short duration makes ‘Canción En Murcia’ like a little piece of heaven. “Where will you rest?” Teo repeats in the chorus.
