Mongolia, the satirical magazine, has presented the cover of its June issue, starring a representation of Taylor Swift located in the middle of the Gaza massacre by Israel. The singer, renamed “Gazataylor Swift”, poses on the cover wearing a Palestinian scarf, in front of a war scene, and covered in wounds and ash.
With this cover, Mongolia establishes a direct relationship between Swift's hit 'Cruel Summer', and the “cruel summer” that is coming on Palestinian soil. “If Taylor Alison Swift's name was Tahira Al-Ison Sufí and she had been born in the Gaza Strip, she could also have written 'Cruel Summer', of course, with some nuances,” the magazine wrote.
With this striking cover, Mongolia seems to reflect on Taylor Swift's media presence in the midst of what the International Court of Justice is considering a possible genocide by Israel against Palestine.
