‘Spice Up Your Life’ of the Spice Girls, censored in the British Radio

One of the best known songs of the Spice Girls, ‘Spice Up Your Life’, is being censored in numerous British radio stations because of the phrase “yellow man.”

The song, released with the second album of the group, has already received controversy in 2019 following the Spice meeting tour. At that time, it was considered to change the word “yellow” to “happy”, for fear of accusations of racism. However, this was never carried out. The original phrase is: «Yellow man in tombuctú / color for me and for you».

Now, British radio is reproducing the song with the word “yellow” eliminated. According to the statements of a BBC Radio 2 spokesman to the Tabloid The Sun, the change was not made by them, but would be a “amended” version of the song.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wfpxi5pklw
