According to La Vanguardia, Enric Palau, Ricard Robles and Sergio Caballero, founders of Sónar, have completely disassociated themselves from the festival. The new CEO is François Jozic, founder of Brunch Electronik and long-time associate with Superstruct.
The news comes a few months after the most controversial edition in the history of the event. Being linked to the company Superstruct Entertainment, owned by the pro-Israel fund KKR, more than 35 artists on the poster challenged the festival itself and decided not to participate in it. Among them, Arca, La Elite or Juliana Huxtable.
After several statements and ensuring that “not a single euro” reached KKR, the festival ended up closing one of its most successful editions with around 161,000 attendees. In this way, and after the separation of its three founding members, the Sónar festival would remain entirely in the hands of Superstruct, which at the same time manages more than thirty festivals in our country, such as Viña Rock, Resurrection Fest or Arenal Sound.
