Sobriety and Vocal Health: Why Miley Cyrus will no longer tours

Miley Cyrus said in 2023 that he would no longer make macroconciertes because this format prevents him from connecting with his fans and makes him feel “alone in front of 100,000 people.”

Cyrus – who has not undertaken a large -scale tour for 10 years – has reiterated these words in a recent interview in Apple Music, but has added that his goal of staying sober and protecting his vocal cords reaffirm him in his position. In addition, he has addressed the economic aspect of the tours.

Cyrus suffers from Reinke’s edema and a polyp on their vocal cords, a consequence of having “abused” them during their youth. He says that when he was 20 years old, after each concert he remained “partying, drinking and smoking”, and that these habits contributed to their vocal deterioration. The author of ‘More to Lose’ says that singing live with this diagnosis is like “running a marathon with ankle weights.” For all this, Miley is not willing to compromise his vocal health or his sobriety.

The singer is also worried about losing her distinctive voice if she underwent a new operation of her vocal cords, such as the one she had in 2019. “My voice is very unique, but I have this edema of Reinke and a large polyp on my vocal cords, and I am not willing to remove it because there is the probability that it does not sound like myself after the operation,” he says.

In addition, Cyrus has commented on the economic difficulties that would mean on tour. He assures that he could only give a small amount of concerts, and that that would no longer do the economically viable tour: “The tours do not come out for free, so if I cannot give a certain amount of concerts, mathematically it makes no sense to do so in the way I need to do it.”

Cyrus points out that the ‘Something Beautiful’ film is his “way to go on tour” because it opens in cinemas around the world. The album is put on sale on May 30 and includes collaborations by Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard.
