Shelley Duvall, star of ‘The Shining’, dies

Actress Shelley Duvall has died at the age of 75. She will always be remembered for her leading role in ‘The Shining’, and especially for the scene in which Jack Nicholson breaks a wooden door with an axe while she holds a long knife. It is undoubtedly one of the 10 greatest horror film classics of all time, inspired by a book by Stephen King.

Shelley Duval has died from complications resulting from her diabetes, her partner, screenwriter Dan Gilroy, has confirmed. In 2016, she revealed in a controversial appearance on a television show that she suffered from mental illness.

The actress has also appeared in several Robert Altman films, such as ‘Popeye’, ‘Nashville’ and ‘Three Women’; as well as in Woody Allen’s ‘Annie Hall’. But she will always be remembered for the role of Wendy Torrance, which in Spain was dubbed by Verónica Forqué, who passed away 3 years ago.
