SAIKO denies having discriminated against dancers due to homophobia

SAIKO, one of the most successful urban singers in Spain, as he has up to 7 No. 1 singles in the country, has denied being homophobic and has stated that he is “totally against homophobia”, after having been accused of discrimination by a former dancer and choreographer with whom he worked on a 2024 tour, and who abandoned preparations for the next tour after perceiving homophobic attitudes on the part of the artist. and their professional environment.

The choreographer and dancer, Alber Montero, does not mention SAIKO’s name in his statement, but the artist has published a statement of about ten minutes answering the accusations, stating that words are attributed to him that he has not said. Among them, he allegedly claimed to be “up to the balls to get on stage with faggots and girls.”

Montero claims that, during the artist’s previous tour, the eight homosexual dancers on the team were continually separated and that the artist only interacted with the only heterosexual member. In preparation for the next tour, the choreographer explains that he proposed incorporating his partner as an assistant and that the response was negative because they were looking for a “more masculine” profile. He also says that in castings, proposals from homosexual dancers were systematically rejected, while heterosexual dancers were prioritized.

Montero remembers that during the preparations for the tour the opportunity arose to perform a separate gig, and that when he proposed the participation of his partner, who already knew the choreographies, she was rejected again for having “too much pen”, but that the choreographer was allowed to participate “because he was less noticeable.”

SAIKO has denied the accusations, calling them “false” and saying that he does not understand why he has been involved in a “horrible episode” in which he had nothing to do. The singer explains that the person who spoke on his behalf to the choreographer was “fired after two or three days” and that he himself respected the dancer’s decision to abandon the project “if he did not feel comfortable.”

SAIKO has insisted that “everyone who knows me knows that I am not homophobic” and has regretted that “these things continue to happen today.” And he pointed out: “I don’t care if you eat a cock, a pussy or a rock, the only thing that matters to me is my life and being happy.”
