Rosalía visited the center of Madrid last night to present her new album, ‘LUX’, which caused congestion in the square due to the very high number of people who were waiting for the Catalan artist.
The Madrid City Council confirmed this Monday that the Catalan artist did not request the relevant permits and that her event was improvised, as the National Police had anticipated. Now, the council is studying the possibility of sanctioning her, although the decision is not yet final and both the amount of the possible fine and the specific infraction that would be attributed to her are unknown.
Inma Sanz, vice mayor of Madrid, had declared to the media this morning that an investigation would be underway to determine whether Rosalía had permission for the event. Otherwise, “we would act accordingly,” said Sanz. She insisted that “it does not seem that there was express authorization.”
The City Council has reviewed, area by area, whether the celebration of the event was communicated in any way. Borja Carabante, delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, assures that “there is no record” of any permit request, but clarifies that they are “reviewing all citizen service offices to check if this event had been reported.”
Regarding the sanction that Rosalía would receive if the lack of authorization is proven, it will be necessary to determine the seriousness of the infraction. Carabante adds that, since no stage was set up nor was there any noise emission, “I understand that it will not be very serious”: “We must initiate the sanctioning file that will entail, if appropriate, the corresponding sanction,” he concluded.
