Bringing universes and traditions closer together, that is what the people of Burgos have done the nest and the Asturian Rodrigo Cuevas in the single they just shared, titled “Tucucu”.
What better way to end the summer with a song that encourages us to dance in the longed-for festivals in the town squares of our territory? And what better if, on top of that, it is signed by the Burgos natives El Nido and the Asturian Rodrigo Cuevas, building bridges between Burgos and Asturias?
You can now listen to this “Tucucu” and think about what those festivals were like, whether you lived through them or not. But no one better than the members of the band from Burgos to describe their intentions: “This is a song that invites to unbridled fun and enjoyment for the sake of enjoyment, to get together and see and feel and touch and experience each other in society from the joy itself. To not be afraid to understand music as something that can only exist in this facet with that purely social and hedonistic function. It was born from the joint creation between Rodrigo Cuevas and us. Rodrigo is a fascinating person who welcomed us with open arms and in a super hospitable way in his house so we could be calm bringing out ideas, putting them on the table, and being able to create from them together between mountains and ciders. We were playing and messing around with different rhythms, and we realized that both Rodrigo and we wanted to do something that was an absolute party. ‘Tucucu’ takes the metaphor of an empty square dance to the idea of retaking the idea of ’the Dance’. We were very interested in rescuing that way of understanding dances and festivals as They were held in town squares, as a purely hedonistic social event, which started from the collective creation of people getting together to sing and play, and this in itself had a very important social function.”
As for the video clip that accompanies the song, it is the work of the production company TheBellaVista. Various dance groups from Burgos appear in it, such as Estampas Burgalesas, Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, Tierras del Cid, Arbayal, Diego Porcelos… The costume work, so important in this video, is the work of Beatriz Martinez (responsible for styling at the nest) and Marina Varela (art and styling director).
