Renfe cancels Nacho Cano’s contract, Ayuso calls his arrest “Stalinism”

Renfe Viajeros has broken the collaboration agreement with the work ‘Malinche’ after Nacho Cano’s statements against the National Police, which he described as “criminal” after being arrested for an alleged crime against the rights of immigrants and workers. Renfe has made this public through a statement.

“The statements made yesterday, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, by the artist and producer Nacho Cano, in which he describes the National Police as “criminal” force us to proceed to terminate the collaboration agreement with Malinche The Musical Spain,” the company explains. This collaboration agreement consisted of a 30% discount on the price of the musical ticket for being a Renfe customer.

This Tuesday, after his arrest, Cano declared that both the chief commissioner of the Leganitos police station in Madrid and the Minister of the Interior, Marlaska, went after him because of his support for Ayuso: “There is no other reason, as they have already gone after her boyfriend, her brother, her father… the one left for them is me to resolve the issue of the real accusation against the president’s wife,” he said.

He then uttered the words that led Renfe to withdraw from the collaborative contract: “I am not the criminal. The criminal is the police and it is they who must be investigated. If I appear dead in a ditch, they already know who did it.”

In the statement, the company also clarified that it “considers the National Police, which has been serving citizens for 200 years, and the State Security Forces and Corps as one of the fundamental pillars of the rule of law.”

On the other hand, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has described the arrest as an “abuse” and has maintained that it seeks “the personal destruction of the artist for political purposes”, which is “simply Stalinism”. She has also praised his career on both sides of the Atlantic.
