Queralt Lahoz is one of the revelation artists of recent years. His songs, which mix flamenco, urban and Latin sounds, such as ‘De la cue a los olivos’ or ‘En otro lugar’, have amassed millions of listeners and conquered people like the current Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun.
‘Pureza’, Lahoz’s debut album, was released in 2021, and the singer from Santa Coloma de Gramanet is now preparing her second full-length release, which will be released “in 2025” according to her press team. The new preview is ‘QL’, whose title is actually made up of the initials of Queralt Lahoz.
In the past, certain pop artists have sung their own name in their songs, in tribute to themselves, such as Madonna in ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’ or Jennifer Lopez in ‘Jenny from the Block’. In ‘QL’, Lahoz says that her life experiences have strengthened her. He sings that he experienced “very soon the pain of death” and that he has become “stronger than wicker”, and asks God to take care of his loved ones. «Otherwise who would I be? Surely it wouldn’t be Queralt Lahoz,” he rhymes.
“I don’t change my life for a perfect one / if that exists, I prefer this one,” is the lesson that Queralt Lahoz leaves in the Song of the Day. Musically, Lahoz chooses a vibrant cumbia rhythm that highlights his spectacular voice. His collaborator, Granada native Toni Anzis, produces the song.
Queralt performs today, November 22, at Monkey Week in Seville, and on November 30, he will give an acoustic concert at the Teatre Bescanó in Girona. Afterwards, he will be at Miradas Flamenkas, in Madrid, on December 1, before flying to Argentina: he plays at Lollapalooza on March 21.
