Pulp details ‘More’, their first album in 24 years

Pulp, the Britpop giants, return with their first album in 24 years, ‘More’, which will be released on June 6. ‘More’ will be the successor of ‘We Love Life’, published in the Far 2001.

Jarvis Cocker himself tells in the official press release that ‘More’ is the album they have recorded “faster” of his entire career. Specifically, there were three weeks of recording in London last November with James Ford in the role of producer. Ford assumed the production of ‘More’ before being diagnosed with leukemia. Richard Hawley, Jason Buckle and the angry family participate in the album.

Cocker also details that everything began on his return to the stage in 2023, when they presented the song ‘Hymn of the North’ in Sheffield: “This opened the doors and the rest of the songs occurred to us during the first half of 2024”. He also clarifies that “a couple of them are a recovery of ideas of the last century,” that AI has not been used in the musical process (although in the video clip) and that the album is dedicated to the late Steve Mackey.

The recorded version of ‘Spike Island’, the song that premiered live in 2024, is the first single. It is a total return of Pulp to the Britpop that made them succeed in the 90s. Nostalgia is introduced even in the letter, in which Cocker sings about the mythical enclosure in which the Stone Roses played in 1990: “Spike Island Come Alive by The Way / This Time I’ll Get It Right,” the Frontman sings.
