Pink Floyd sells its catalog for 400 million dollars

After years of rumors, Pink Floyd has agreed to sell its music and naming rights to Sony Music for approximately $400 million, as reported by Variety.

The legendary British progressive rock band has sold its entire recorded catalog and personality rights to Sony Music, after years of disputes between the members, especially between Roger Waters and David Gilmour. The songwriting rights, on the other hand, have remained with the “relevant band members.”

The name and personality rights, now owned by Sony, include everything related to merchandising and film rights. Naturally, Pink Floyd’s catalog is one of the most valuable in the industry, not to mention its merchandise. Albums like ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ or ‘The Wall’ turn out to have some of the most iconic and recognizable covers in history.
