Jimena Amarillo has just published her new album ‘Angélika’, preceded by singles as pintons as ‘Flow Deskiciada’. The album receives its name for a “trans alter-ego brought to the material through a head that will accompany you throughout the season.” He also presents it with this motto: “With this album I do not want you to cry and, if you do, to be dancing.”
Among the 10 cuts, the one that has been “Focus Track” stands out for Friday’s playlists. ‘On Ave Maria Street’ is our song of the day today, one of the ones that best achieves that goal of making us dance (within that this is not a dance album itself, of course).
With a splendid melody and some neo-Soul inspiration, ‘On Ave Maria Street’ it manages to be a vibrant and euphoric song, despite the fears that its chorus contains: in the aforementioned street, «there is a bank and 2 women / now not, because it is daytime /
But I always spend and think / that you don’t love me anymore.
Electronic production, full of “shorts” and “pastes” under the controls of Marin Zannad and Jimena Yellow, has some indiertronics echo. It is the perfect bittersweet background for a subject that is again pure costumbrismo: “She looks at me and says nothing / we speak better being silent.”
