Omar Apollo is one of the actors confirmed for the cast of ‘Queer’, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, inspired by the novel by William S. Burroughs. Apollo will make his film debut in ‘Queer’, accompanied by Daniel Craig in the lead role, and Drew Starkey, known for his role in ‘Outer Banks’.
On Instagram, Apollo confirmed the news of his participation in ‘Queer’ – reproduced by media such as Variety – writing: “My first film and with my favorite director, thanks Luca.”
Screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes has once again collaborated with Guadagnino to adapt the novel ‘Queer’ for the big screen, after writing the script for Guadagnino’s acclaimed last film, ‘Rivals’, starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist.
‘Queer’ is a film set in Mexico City in the 1940s, although the film was shot in Rome. And its release is imminent, as a first screening of ‘Queer’ will be shown at the Venice Film Festival on August 27 and September 7.
Apollo is one of the most promising alternative pop singers of the moment. Curiously, Apollo’s new album, ‘God Said No’, includes the collaboration of a well-known actor, Pedro Pascal, who narrates a story in one of the interludes. About ‘God Said No’, JENESAISPOP spoke with Apollo recently during his visit to Primavera Sound.
