Olly, winner of Sanremo, waiver of Eurovision 2025

Olly, winner of Sanremo with ‘Balorda Nostalgia’, has communicated his resignation to participate in Eurovision 2025. “I think I need to assimilate everything that is happening before looking further,” he said in a statement published on Instagram. “So I have decided to give up Eurovision knowing that it is one of those things that happen only once in life.” “Some will say that I am renouncing a dream, but I think I have chosen to live it at my rhythm,” said the artist.

The second classified of Sanremo 2025, Lucio Corsi, will officially represent Italy in Eurovision 2025 with ‘Vollevo Essere a Hard’. Corsi had expressed his desire to compete in Eurovision and had declared that traveling to the song festival was a “dream” for him.

Olly’s is not the only case as a Sanremo winner who has refused to go to Eurovision. In 2016, the Stadio band won Sanremo, but resigned from participating in the song festival. As a result, the second classified, Francesca Michielin, competed in Stockholm. The next edition of Eurovision, the 69th, is celebrated in Basel, Switzerland.
