Nathy Peluso da ‘fat’ in a Mallorca live crowned by the farewell of Antònia Font

Eight editions have consolidated Mallorca Live as the main cultural event of the Balearic Islands. Its manageable size – the Calvià enclosure can not be more comfortable to walk – and the artist’s artistic line is so complete that it includes absolute legends, youthful icons, dear national bands or emerging artists, in addition to -For -by course- the interesting local offer. Only last year, the Mallorca Live poster had artists as disparate as Blondie, Aitana, Pet Shop Boys, Milli Vanilli or Michael Kiwanuka. A look at this year’s poster also reminds the eclectic selection of a playlist from Spotify’s “in loop” songs.

Agraraciated with a better climate than last year (not only has it not rained but the sun has stuck strong, especially in the early afternoon; on the Magaluf beach the morning seemed noon), the first day of Mallorca Live has welcomed 17,000 people, according to official data of the festival. The outstanding concerts have been those of Nathy Peluso and Antònia Font, for assembly and sound, respectively.

An intimate format – living – favors the show of Natalia Lacunzabut not that of Festival. His songs and his whispered gather a group of fans in the first ranks, but the bulk of the assistance seems to be composed of curious festival and, despite his prudent schedule (the 20.00), the concert feels off. Lacunza exhibits his tables on stage (it is not noted that that morning he has risen with pharyngitis), but the repertoire, based mainly on ‘It has to be for me’, his 2022 album, and in ‘Hard’, his 2023 EP, demands a renewal. Only ‘A punishment’, the first advance of his next work, and a curious version of ‘Sad Ojitos’ by Jeanette mixed with ‘Hot’ of Inna, contributes novelties to a concert that meets his schedule with Natalia and his band already outside the stage and a song, ‘Simellama’, sounding in the background.

Delgao It gives a classic format hip-hop show accompanied by its DJ, D3llano, at the mixing table. The more “Kinky” is his music, the better it is and, therefore, the brute distortion of ‘The soul of the party’ steals the show, which cannot sound more current in its Trap, House or Favela Funk base route. The careful bases of ‘scoundrel’ or ‘love kinky’ (that of “You are not toxic, but lights like Britney”) fill the stage and the public applauds with desire the appearance of Mary Escalmiento, which interprets ‘Miau’ next to Delgao and leaves … until within a few hours.

The ‘fat’ concert of Nathy Peluso It presents the best assembly of the festival so far, enhanced by the best interpreter and performer. With a decoration of curtains and carpet in electric blue that recreates the aesthetics of the album, the assembly embodies the artistic proposal of Peluso, a fusion of tradition and modernity. The concert revolves around a dramatized story through a screen projected on the screen (Peluso has stolen a mysterious briefcase) and, on stage, Peluso tells that helped story of dancers and decorative elements.

Although Peluso is enough and left over to fill the stage, as it is a scenic fierce as few, the outstanding performances of the show are the most dramatized. In particular, the section dedicated to the sauce, which culminates with ‘the dam’ presented in front of a piece of prison fence such as that of its video clip, or those that are worth shooting, such as ‘real’. Sometimes the dancers act, kiss (‘atheist’) or boxean (‘radical ideas’), and the theatrical style of the show enhances the interpretive force of a lint that gestures and shakes body and mane as if his life depended on it.

Able to turn the stage with ‘All broken’ (the virtual appearance of Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso causes furor) and of mudging the present with ‘Envy’, Peluso is generous interacting with his audience, which he gives “loves and blessings” while repeatedly celebrates the important role that love and music play in his life. Although the surprise is the way in which ’emergency’, with its House rhythm, it has become the high point of a Nathy Peluso concert at a festival. The show concludes with the ode to the perseverance of ‘remedy’: “I always went like this, I did not allow myself to give up.”

While Dorian They play in one of the main scenarios -abarrotado of public-, and offer the expected quality of a group that accumulates decades of experience behind them, a more modest but equally necessary concert develops in the small Mallorca scenario. Maria lesson He has found a reef in the Hyperpop, the Makineros rhythms and the apitoufted voices, and his set attracts an eager audience and carefree rhythms. Escaliento puts few, very little desire to the stage – find that of “Go Girl, Give Umbing” – but the fun is assured with his own themes (‘The life I chose’) and his famous version of the ear of Van Gogh, to which he now adds one of ‘February 6’ graciously adapted to the techno. An Instagram comment tells us that this, and not that of Aitana, is the best version.

The most anticipated concert of the day offers Antònia Fontone of the most recognized Mallorcan groups outside the islands, if not the one that most. The passion they raise in the local audience is amazing, because in Mallorca their songs, more than songs, are hymns. The ‘joy’ that causes its catalog in those present is immense, and that joy makes the concert even better.

Pau Debon, vocalist, acts plethoric, grown, happy because the final concert of his meeting tour – which began in 2022 – can also be one of the best of his career. The concert is spectacular in repertoire but above all sound. The shy start with songs such as ‘A stoboscòpica minut’ – one of the recent ones – gradually giving rise to an increasingly virtuous and epic set that leaves the mouth open with the development of its spectacular and devastating sound walls built with guitars and synthesizers. They must, vocally in excellent shape, puts the face and body, but the sound built in team exceeds the limits of the enclosure in the best of the senses.

Together with Pau, Joan Miquel Oliver, Jaume Manresa, Joan Roca and Pere should alternate popular hymns and progressive odyssey with the naturalness of a band that is, so many years later, in their best state of form. If this is the last concert they give in their entire career, it is one of which we will continue to remember.
