Mondo Sonoro Observatory celebrates the first edition of #BitsToKnow

this past Wednesday October 2 The first edition of #BitsToKnow of the Mondo Sonoro Observatory.

On its thirtieth anniversary, Mondo Sonoro continues to bet on the future of music and, through its Observatory, has launched Bits To Know. A meeting that was born from the detected need to open a space to reflect, slowly and collectively, on the impact of technology on music and also on its industry.

In this first edition, which was dedicated to musical creation, the public had the opportunity to enjoy #SpectralResonatora project that was born at MACBA, which has passed through SÓNAR+ and which landed in Madrid for the first time on the stage of Bits To Know. Created by the multidisciplinary artist and music producer Emotional Nina and the artist Teo Ruffini#Spectral Resonator is an initiative that explores visual and sound creation through emotions and AI, showing us how technology can continue to expand the limits of creativity and human communication.

Next, the #livecoders community of #LiveCodeMadformed by Fernando Fernández, Adrián Collado and Jesús Jara @b1tdreamer, @r.phlux.d and @verbenaelectronica, respectively, offered a performative talk that took attendees on a journey that allowed them to discover the influence of technology on music since the 1950s and that demonstrated How collective creation, code and Open Source tools are key to the music of the future.

The event closed with the intervention of Alicia Chaverofounder of Design For Permanencewho facilitated an enriching debate on the concept of music and its creative nature, challenging attendees to reflect and delve into questions such as these: What elements will be necessary to decide that something is a musical composition? What elements are left over and what elements are missing to evolve the concept of music?

This first #BitsToKnow meeting has been a resounding success, marking the beginning of a series of events through which the relationship between music and technology will continue to be deepened from different areas.

With the support of collaborators such as BIME, LeCluf Music, RootedCon and AIEhe Observatory Mondo Sonoro will continue to open spaces for reflection to understand the present and future of music in a world that moves ever faster and is constantly changing.
