Kylie debuted a collaboration during a performance at West Hollywood Pride. It's called 'Midnight Ride', and it's a single featuring her new “best friends”, Diplo and Orville Peck. You know this one because of his masked character, who has brought the sound of country to LGBT+ territories, both in lyrics and in video clips. Especially recommendable is her album 'Bronco', more than the latest 'Stampede Vol 1'.
'Midnight Ride' is introduced by tremendous whistling and Western vibes, only to later incorporate more country elements and a disco beat. They themselves classify it as “disco-country.”
In the duet, Orville invites Kylie on the “trip” of her life, and Kylie lets herself go: “I'm free, I'm not tied to anything,” she sings. Classic in melody and instrumentation, 'Midnight Ride' is Orville Peck's great pop song.
The song could have been reserved on an Orville Peck e-card, where his name appears first, so we understand that it could be part of 'Stampede Vol 2'.
Kylie Minogue's set included 13 songs, highlighting 'Padam Padam' and 'Tension' from her latest work, but also up to 4 songs from her classic 'Fever'. Interestingly, 'Midnight Ride' played after her big country anthem 'Dancing'.
