Metro Boomin, one of the most successful artists today, currently the 48th most listened to artist in the entire globe, has been reported for rape. Billboard publishes the full 18-page complaint.
The complainant’s name is Vanessa LeMaistre, she has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles court, and claims that in September 2016, Metro Boomin raped her and left her pregnant. She remembers that she passed out after taking xanax and a shot of alcohol, and that when she woke up she was being raped by him. Furthermore, he assures that the events are related in a song that Metro Boomin produced for 21 Savage and Offset, although it is not Leland Tyler Wayne – his real name – who raps or wrote the text.
The song is called ‘Rap Saved Me’ and includes the verses: “she took a xanny, then she fainted, I come from the ghetto, rap saved me, she drives me crazy, she will have my baby.” The complaint argues that this celebration of rape has had to be listened to ad nauseam by the victim. His lawyers argue that Metro Boomin “has built a successful career with lyrics that are not only offensive but underscore his desire to harm women.”
Metro Boomin’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, has denied the allegations. “It is a false complaint. Mr. Wayne refused to pay this woman months ago, and he refuses to give her money now. Mr. Wayne will defend himself in court and sue for the malicious allegation where appropriate.”
Metro Boomin has reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 with his two albums, ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’ (2018) and ‘Heroes & Villains’ (2022). He has also achieved it three other times with his collaborative albums with 21 Savage and the two he released with Future. Among his biggest hits are collaborations with Offset or ‘Like That’ with Future and Kendrick Lamar.
