‘May you be happy’ is “May you not be happy at all”

Miss Caffeina release ‘Good luck’, their sixth album tonight. On this occasion they have worked with Pablo Rouss on a more electronic production, seduced by the work he had done with Belén Aguilera on the excellent ‘Metanoia’.

Today the fourth single from the album is presented, the remarkable ‘Hoy va a ser el día’. But ‘May you be happy’ is the best of all, closing the album as track 10 and serving in some way as a summary. It’s our Song of the Day today.

With that irresistible quarter-note bass drum that is introduced at the same time as the chorus, ‘May you be happy’ is the best production on an album free of electric guitars that would even appreciate remixes that take the songs a little further. ‘May you be happy’ lasts just 2 minutes on a half-hour long album.

It is also the summary song of the album because it portrays a breakup, since divorce and heartbreak (also loss) have marked the course of the three members of Miss Caffeina lately. “May you be happy”, a song as jealous as ‘And what is he like?’ of Perales, it is truly “May you not be happy at all” if we pay attention to the irony of his phrases.

“May you suffer a little like me” says a lyric through which “fires” and bad desires appear, in addition to a quote from Lana del Rey that tells us about complexes and insecurity. That “if you are struck by lightning, it will catch you together” is his not at all subtle conclusion.

Miss Caffeina have already announced their first ten dates in 2026, which you can consult on their website.
