How do you imagine the negotiations with an artist to decide whether to go to ‘El Hormiguero’ or ‘La Revuelta’ to promote something? Living hell, right? In just 3 weeks of broadcast, Najwa and Danna (Paola) have made some statements on David Broncano’s program that will probably prevent them from ever returning to Pablo Motos’ program. The first revealed that after having said no on a certain occasion, they no longer accepted her. The second claimed to have chosen ‘La Revuelta’ because it is currently the number 1 program. So far it has won 11 of 15 battles.
It seemed incredible that someone could attend both formats in the same week, especially if they went through ‘La Revuelta’ first. How was Pablo Motos going to accept the crumbs of a Laura Pausini or an Antonio Banderas? David Broncano has decided to go ahead and laugh at everything this Wednesday, inviting Ana Mena, just one day after she stopped by ‘El Hormiguero’. And it has been hilarious, the funniest of all the shows this season.
The events began on Tuesday, when the RTVE show revealed that a fan wearing a Rayo Vallecano t-shirt went every day to the Teatro Príncipe de Gran Vía requesting that Ana Mena go to ‘La Revuelta’. But actually that day I was in ‘El Hormiguero’. And it was one of the few occasions in which the Antena 3 program has clearly led. Pablo Motos is content with putting banners on websites and advertising spots on the radio, stating that he is “a leader in his segment.” Especially since his program starts later and now ends at 11:15 p.m. Antena 3 prime-time, already completely annihilated. The “access”, being the “access” to the bed to read a book.
The ‘La Revuelta’ team went out of their way to have Ana Mena be the guest of the show last night. She would be the first to go to the two rival formats. He would promote his single ‘Carita triste’, which is around the top 10 in Spain. And also two days in a row. The program placed the chances of having the singer come at 35%. Then he reduced them to 15%. Jorge Ponce went out to the doors of the Príncipe Theater to look for the fan with the Rayo shirt. The Zoom on him was hilarious, but what happened next was pure Luis García Berlanga: an increasingly large and diverse court of Spaniards – young, retired, fat, thin, with unchecked backpacks, passers-by with nothing – sneaking into the theater without even knowing if Ana Mena was going to be there, nor if there would be seats for such a growing number of spontaneous people. The program knew how to sustain a tension as absurd as its entire format, around whether said small group of people would fit into the Prince or not.
Ana Mena appeared. In reality, the fan, who responds to the name Carlos, already knew because he had met her at the doors. She entered through the stalls loaded with trinkets, carrying a suitcase and showing her cell phone to prove that she had missed an AVE train by attending the program. He talked about his single and his next film like few artists are allowed to promote their own thing, he claimed not to have fucked anything in the entire month of September and announced that his WiZink in December will be a wedding that is keeping him up at night and with which he will not earn a penny. She was charming with her fan. It is also true that he needed to drink water when he promised him a new gift to add to all the ones he has already given him at the doors of who knows how many rooms and hotels.
The singer was able to promote her thing, yes. But the program was able to continue promoting itself in return. “Do you think Pablo (Motos) will have taken the climbers who were here yesterday today?” Broncano asked Mena, who avoided any joke towards Pablo Motos as best he could, unlike other guests.
Theirs was to embroider an a cappella version of ‘Sabor a mí’, to the despair of Grison and Ricardo, who couldn’t find the tone. Although the best thing is that for some reason, Carmen Lomana was in the audience, applauding, giving her all, like one more. The same Carmen Lomana who was on VOX lists and then renounced the party. The same Carmen Lomana who left these statements in April on that network, COPE:
«I am outraged with how the Government has manipulated with Broncano and has demanded that they put Broncano on TVE to annoy ‘El Hormiguero’, clearly, taking fifteen minutes off the News. It’s nonsense because we pay for it. Spanish Television is public, maybe I’m taking a chance, because I work there, but I criticize it like almost everyone who works at home does.
Broncano announced two more guests to close the program, two people so famous that they needed no introduction. And when the public assumed that it would be Lomana and Patricia Donoso, who accompanied her, Belén Esteban and María Patiño showed up with a pot of beans. One made the day before and that had gone from set to set. Without anyone having stated that they had stored such a thing in a refrigerator under the necessary conditions, in a Madrid that these days alternates rain with sweat, they poured a spoonful into David’s mouth.
The darts flew, this time against Mediaset about the end of ‘Sálvame’. Patiño and Esteban, visibly overexcited by their presence on public television, stepped on each other, flattered each other and poked each other, all without drawing blood from the Telecinco audiences in the last year. That and not Motos is the true television drama of the year. That the world advances for some and for others the greatest asset continues to be Ana Rosa Quintana. ‘The Revolt’ blew up the audiometers, and left a new string of memes. The truth is, if this program is going to reach this level of improvisation, surprise and now also, famous among the public, now it is going to be history.
It hurts to see how little by little Belén Esteban is losing her adolescent features…💔 #TheRevolt pic.twitter.com/UI2o2btFTH
