Madonna performed for around 1.5 million people at the end of the 'Celebration Tour' concert held on Copacabana beach, Rio de Janeiro, which the public was able to attend for free. It is the biggest show of Madonna's entire career. Completing 81 concerts, none cancelled, Madonna's first retrospective tour comes to an end, one of the best in terms of execution and staging.
Madonna's concert in Copacabana has been faithful to the rest of the tour, although it has been adapted to the context at some points. Madonna wore outfits inspired by the Brazilian flag, and 'Music' was performed in the company of Pabllo Vittar and a group of child percussionists from a samba school.
Anitta – as rumored – was present at the concert, but not to sing 'Faz Gostoso' with Madonna, but to sit on the 'Vogue' stool. The author of 'Funk Generation' has been the final guest on the 'Celebration Tour', taking over from actress Salma Hayek, who appeared dressed as Frida Khalo in Mexico City a few days ago. Before, Wendy Guevara also in Mexico, Honey Dijon in Austin, Kim Petras in Miami or David Harbor in Atlanta did the same.
The 'Celebration Tour' tribute to Brazil has also been shown on the screens, which have projected images of the educator Paulo Freire, the soccer player Marta, the murdered councilor Marielle Franco, the indigenous leader Raoni and the singer Cazuza, who died of AIDS. Diplo, a big fan of Brazilian funk throughout his career, especially in Major Lazer, has been in charge of the warm-up.
The end of Madonna's tour has been especially emotional after the start of the 'Celebration Tour' – last October – marked by the threat of possible cancellations. Finally, after the first dates of the tour were postponed due to Madonna's entry, not a single date has been cancelled. What comes next in Madonna's career is now the big question.
