Low’s Alan Sparhawk announces his first solo album

Alan Sparhawk’s debut album, ‘White Roses, My God’, will be available on September 27th. ‘Can U Hear’ is the vibrant first track from the album.

Best known for his 30-year career with Low, Sparhawk has condensed all of his experimental concerns into his new work. He already did so during his time in the group, through his numerous side projects in which he played with genres as different as punk and funk. Although ‘White Roses, My God’ arrives after the death of Mimi Parker in 2022, an irreplaceable piece of Low and Sparhawk’s wife, this is not just an album “born of pain.”

According to the press release, the new LP is an “exorcism” that aims to “release” the spirit, rather than banish it. The record is also described as “tense, brilliant, provocative and exciting” and focused on “bold experimentation.” This is demonstrated on the first single, “Can U Hear,” on which Sparhawk’s voice is heavily modified with autotune and a high pitch.

Tracklist:

1. Get Still
2. I Made This Beat
3. Not the 1
4. Can U Hear
5. Heaven
6. Brother
7. Black Water
8. Feel Something
9. Station
10. Somebody Else’s Room
11. Project 4 Ever
