Lizzo, on sabbatical, plans album about her depression

Lizzo has taken to Instagram to let her fans know how she is doing. First, a couple of days ago she said she was taking a sabbatical. The singer has acknowledged having mental health problems, has at times announced her retirement, and has also had to face harassment complaints from dancers who have worked with her in the past.

By her own account, she’s doing better now. “I wasn’t going to write this on Instagram, but 2021 me would be so proud of 2024 me. And I’m not talking about my body. If you all knew what I’ve done for my mental and emotional health in the last year… But don’t worry, I’m going to write an album about it.”

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, such an album will take a year to arrive, at least, because the singer needs to «protect her inner peace». It was last May when she began to feel recovered: «I am the happiest I have been in 10 months. The strange thing about depression is that you don’t even know you are in it until you come out. I am definitely not as calm as I used to be. But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing. My smile is coming to my eyes again and that is a victory».
