Linkin Park have announced a new album, ‘From Zero’, which is due out on November 15. The title of ‘From Zero’ is symbolic, as it is Linkin Park’s first album since the death of Chester Bennington in 2017, and the first with their new line-up, which includes a female vocalist for the first time, Emily Armstrong. This is the singer of the rock band Dead Sara, who recently participated in Demi Lovato’s latest album.
In addition to Armstrong, Linkin Park is joined by drummer Colin Brittain, following the departure of drummer and founding member Rob Bourdon.
Mike Shinoda remains in front of the microphone in the new era of Linkin Park and, in addition, produces the first single of their new era. ‘The Emptiness Machine’ recovers the rock intensity typical of Linkin Park, in contrast to their recent electronic experiments, for example in the 2017 single ‘Heavy’, while the lyrics revolve around a dysfunctional relationship. Shinoda and Armstrong give up their own authenticity to meet the expectations of the other, and continue “expecting what I will never receive.”
Linkin Park, on the other hand, have announced six concerts in arenas in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogotá. The first of these concerts, in Los Angeles, was held tonight. The initial rumor was that the band would embark on a world tour in 2025 but, so far, only these dates have been announced.
Even more striking has been the recent rumour that Sum 41 vocalist Deryck Whibley has joined Linkin Park’s new line-up. The rumour has been denied by Whibley himself.
