Lily Allen can be happy because her new album, ‘West End Girl’, is enjoying great popularity. After entering number 4 on the British album chart, in its second week it has not fallen, but has risen to number 2, surpassing Taylor Swift herself. Number 1 has been taken by her contemporary Florence + the Machine.
The success of ‘West End Girl’ – always limited to the United Kingdom – has been unstoppable since its premiere. Their songs have not dropped on the streaming charts either, but have doubled their views during their first week. Currently, 6 of its 12 tracks continue to appear within the UK Spotify top 50. In official terms, ‘Pussy Palace’ is the established hit of this era, and has just climbed into the top 8 of the British singles chart, after opening at number 12. Nothing like a good salsa – but above all a good album – to mark the comeback of the year.
‘West End Girl’ equals the position of ‘Alright, Still’, Allen’s 2006 debut, on the British album chart. Her next two albums, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ (2009) and ‘Sheezus’ (2013), debuted at number one. ‘No Shame’ (2018) came in fifth.
Meanwhile, Allen’s ex, actor David Harbour, has no choice but to reappear in public on the occasion of the world premiere of the fifth season of ‘Stranger Things’ held last Thursday.
He did so accompanied by his co-star Millie Bobby Brown, despite the latest information about his complaint for “harassment and bullying” of the actor, coming from a tabloid. Both have posed happy and smiling on the red carpet, suggesting that their relationship is friendly and close.
