Leire Martínez is no longer “the girl who cries at your parties”

Leire Martínez has revolutionized the world of Spanish pop with his first single single. A succession of interviews without prejudice, full of humor and interior strength preceded last week to a small song whirlwind called ‘My name’.

The composition managed to sneak into the top 50 of the most heard on Spotify Spain on the exit day, exactly in 49th position. It has merit because the list is plagued by reggaeton, urban sound and especially much featuring. But ‘My name’ had to be a solo song.

‘My name’, our song of the day today, is a self -affirmation theme, which can only be aimed at Van Gogh’s members. “Look for someone to replace me / you already did it once / but you can no longer hide more / two faces and a name.” And besides, it does not hide a certain taste of revenge: “Where do I sign for you to charge the lies that you hide so well, but that will make you back … shouting my name?”

Leire has elaborated this song with two authors called Pedro Elipe and Marc Montserrat, which he reached through his stamp, after some first sessions with singer -songwriter Andrés Suárez. Thus he told us about the creative process in an interview with Jenesaispop: «The part of writing was very clear and I looked trained for it, but I was a little blocked with the musical theme, with creating melodies. There I started asking who had around. Initially it was the Management Office that told me that they knew people who write songs and that they could teach me, give guidelines, whatever. And so it was. This song was born after many conversations with Pedro and with Marc. At first, one of the things that cost me the most was to expose and create with people I do not know and from whom I don’t know anything. I needed to talk and feel that somehow we begin to know each other minimally or maximally ».

With them, he has been in charge of building an issue that does not have the impossible recesses that used to identify the texts of Pablo Benegas and Xabi San Martín de Lovg, but clearly replicates his melodic tricks. A 100% pop-rock theme The Van Gogh’s ear that contains a reference to ‘The Last Waltz’ (“Welcome to this place”) and reminds a lot of the girl who cries at your parties’. Only, of course, Leire, has already cried enough.
