Kylie’s ‘Lights Camera Action’ is great

Kylie Minogue is going for it and, after spending months releasing a handful of singles, and after announcing a new album and revealing the first dates of her next world tour, the Tension World Tour, she releases ‘Lights Camera Action’, the new presentation single for that ‘Tension II’ that goes on sale in less than a month, on October 18.

Without seeing the video clip for ‘Lights Camera Action’, which premieres at 3:00 p.m., Kylie proposes a crude but effective sound with the help of her collaborator Ina Wroldsen, author of ‘Padam Padam’, and producer Lewis Thompson. ‘Lights Camera Action’ is heavy-duty house-pop designed in the current way: Kylie gives the verse, pre-chorus and the obligatory drop, and with these three elements she composes a song that doesn’t last three minutes. The “extended version” reaches four.

In the final part of ‘Lights Camera Action’, the pre-chorus and the drop come together as one to bring the song to a climax, as was already the case in ‘Tension’, the single. The melody is good but, unlike ‘Tension’ or even ‘Padam Padam’, ‘Lights Camera Action’ does not leave you feeling satiated, giving the feeling that it ends too soon without proposing so many nuances. Surely the video clip, which promises to be an explosive production, as the first preview image shows, elevates the song.

In addition to the extended version, Kylie has three remixes of ‘Lights Camera Action’ available now, by Confidence Man, Zach Witness and JACONDA.
