Pitchfork has published its traditional list of Songs of the Year, crowned by Kendrick Lamar’s diss track to Drake, ‘Not Like Us’, for which he recently sued Spotify and Universal for fraudulent promotion.
If it weren’t for Kendrick, Song of the Year would be ‘Right Back to It’, the great alt-country song that has crowned Waxahatchee’s career. He didn’t like Beyoncé’s country classic so much, ‘Texas Hold’Em’, and the song that appears from it is ‘II Hands II Heaven’ and it doesn’t do so until number 50. The songs chosen for the top 10 by Sabrina Carpenter and by Charli xcx are ‘Espresso’ and the remix with Lorde, respectively.
Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga – not even with Bruno Mars -, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift are some of the most significant absences at first glance.
We leave you with the top 10, on their website you can find the top 100 including The Cure, Caroline Polachek or Empress of, and we remind you that JENESAISOP will publish its lists in a 128-page full-color fanzine around December 20. You can now reserve in our online store.
