K-pop singer Wheesung dies at 43 years

K-pop singer Wheesung has been found dead on Monday in his Seoul apartment, at 43 years of age. Choi Whee-Sung’s lifeless body, real name of the deceased artist, has been found by his mother at 18.30 local time.

South Korean authorities have confirmed that the cause of Wheesung’s death has been a cardiac arrest. The body was neglected “considerable time” until it was found.

Wheesung’s musical career took off in 2002 with the launch of his debut album, ‘Like A Movie’ and was characterized by its mixture of pop, hip-hop and R&B on issues such as ‘Insomnia’. Wheesung had worked in K-Pop seals as YG Entertainment.

In recent years, Wheesung faced repeated legal problems for its recreational use of drugs such as propofol, the same anesthetic linked to the death of Michael Jackson. In 2021, Wheesung declared himself guilty of use not prescribed propofol, but avoided going to prison.

A tragedy again shake the culture in South Korea after the early death, last February, of actress Kim Sae-Ron, at age 24.
