Juan Luis Guerra, Album of the Year at the Latin GRAMMYs with an EP

The 25th edition of the Latin GRAMMYs was held on the night of Thursday, November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Juan Luis Guerra was the big winner of the night, winning four awards, including Album of the Year for ‘Radio Güira’, despite the fact that this is a six-song EP. Guerra has also collected the award for Best Merengue/Bachata Album for ‘Radio Güira’ and two others, for Recording of the Year and Best Tropical Song, for ‘Mambo 23’.

The other two winners of the night were Edgar Barrera and Nathy Peluso, who took home three Latin GRAMMYs each. Edgar Barrera has not missed the gramophones for Producer of the Year and Composer of the Year, as he was the most nominated producer and composer, and the most nominated artist in general: he aspired to nine nominations.

For her part, Nathy Peluso has collected the three Latin GRAMMYs for which she was nominated, for the film ‘Grasa’, Best hip-hop/rap song for ‘Aprender a amar’, and Best alternative song for ‘El día que I lost my youth’ with Blood Orange.

The Latin GRAMMY for Song of the Year has gone to another old acquaintance of the awards, Jorge Drexler, for ‘Derrumbe’, and Karol G, winner of Album of the Year in 2023 for ‘Mañana will be nice’, has collected the Grammy for Best urban music album for the deluxe edition of that album, ‘Bichota Season’. Luis Fonsi won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘El Viaje’, Aterciopelados won the Best Rock Album for the live performance of ‘El Dorado’, and Mon Laferte won the Best Alternative Music Album for ‘Autopoietica’.

Ela Taubert has been recognized as Breakthrough Artist, which means that the Galician Íñigo Quintero has been left without an award. C. Tangana has also not won in its category, Best Short Video, which went to Residente for ‘313’ with Penélope Cruz & Silvia Pérez Cruz. Carlos Vives has been named Person of the Year.

Other winners at the Latin GRAMMYs have been Bad Bunny and Feid for ‘Perro Negro’, for Best Reggaeton Performance; Trueno for ‘Tranky Funky’, for Best Urban/Fusion Performance, or Daddy Yankee for ‘Bonita’, for Best Urban Song. El País compiles the complete list of honors.
