After five albums, Javiera Mena is still one of the most interesting pop artists in Spanish. The Chilean singer -songwriter and producer has already presented her sixth work, ‘immersion’, with the launch of advances such as ‘crying’ and ‘entropy’. Sample of the versatility of an album that polulates for the bossa or the 50’s ballad and that is our album of the week.
After the launch of ‘Night’ in 2022, Javiera Mena is prepared to embark on another artistic stage and has done so with very different cuts, but capable of living in the same sound universe. ‘Cry again’ is built around an acoustic guitar and a dance beat that does not take time to enter the subject.
On the other hand, ‘Entropia’, the song of the day, presents a floating electronic production of the Chilean and full of details. It is another achievement in his excellent career, balancing a melody difficult to take off his head with an important message: “Come and feel entropy / is not a fantasy,” Javiera sings in this second advance.
The press release ensures that this single “brings us back to the sound origins of Mena.” The artist herself refers to the concept of entropy as one that “represents chaos and disorder”, serving as “metaphor to address uncertainty, which sometimes governs our mind and our lives.”
In a matter of video clips, ‘crying again’ is the strong bet of the Chilean. In it, Mena becomes a vampire of classic cinema, with her dark castle and her particular coffin. The singer uses the concept of vampirism to tell us about “daring to inhabit emotions”: “As much as they are annoying, it is what makes us human,” he says.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k8habhfrkahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuhvopzw-2g
