Javiera Mena feels ‘Entropy’ in her new musical era

After five albums, Javiera Mena continues to be one of the most interesting pop artists in Spanish. The Chilean singer-songwriter and producer is about to present her sixth album and, for now, she has already released the first two previews: ‘Volver a Llorar’ and ‘Entropía’.

After the release of ‘Nocturna’ in 2022, Javiera Mena is ready to embark on another artistic stage and has done so with two very different cuts, but capable of coexisting in the same sound universe. ‘Volver a Llorar’ is built around an acoustic guitar and a dance beat that soon enters the song.

On the other hand, ‘Entropía’ presents a floating electronic production trademark of the Chilean and full of details. It’s another achievement in her excellent career, balancing a melody that’s hard to get out of your head with an important message: “Come and feel the entropy / It’s not a fantasy,” Javiera sings in this second trailer.

The press release assures that this single “brings us back to Mena’s sound origins.” The artist herself refers to the concept of entropy as one that “represents chaos and disorder,” serving as “a metaphor to address the uncertainty, which sometimes governs our minds and our lives.”

In terms of video clips, ‘Volver a Llorar’ is the Chilean’s strong bet. In it, Mena becomes a vampire from classic cinema, with her dark castle and her private coffin. The singer uses the concept of vampirism to talk to us about “daring to inhabit emotions”: “As annoying as they are, it’s what makes us human,” she says.
