These days the official debut of Janire, the electronic pop project of the young artist from Bilbao living in Madrid, has just been released. ‘Las Huidas’ is a dark album in which light appears from time to time. If a few months ago ‘Pixel Negro II’ was our Song of the Day, today we select ‘1AM’, another preview of this 8-song album.
‘1AM’ is the story of a party in which Janire is not comfortable. Someone even asks him what he’s doing there, so he says: “I haven’t brought any rhythm to the party. “I haven’t brought a Saturday body / I haven’t known how to start any conversation.”
On an electropop basis as dark as the feelings narrated, Janire tells us about “the possibility of disappearing” – that is the great hook of the song – and without anyone realizing it.
The idea of ”disappearing” completely has featured in songs from such alienating projects as Radiohead or Los Planetas. Here the references are more of electronics soaked in electric guitars and distortion. One of its references is St Vincent. Of course, there is humor in remembering its origin:
«I seemed a little cold. I seemed cordial and dull.
“I seemed like an ordinary girl from the north.”
Janire has been bassist for Repion and has worked with prestigious musicians and producers such as Carla Silván –bassist for Carrera and Ice Heaven-, Pablo Fergus –keyboardist for Pol Granch, Dani Fernández, producer for Alcalá Norte, Sexy Zebras, Amaral- and Alex Moreno –current drummer and producer of Amaral-. Maybe that’s where its curious rock vibe comes from among so many synthesizers.
Janire will open the La Bien Querida concert at La Riviera, Madrid, on January 9.
